Korea Voters Central Association Discusses
"The Role of Civil Society for the Success of the Lee Jaemyung Administration"
Key Focus on Basic Society Policy and Balanced Regional Development
On August 1, the Korea Voters Central Association, together with the Citizens' Society Forum, held a policy forum at the main auditorium of the National Assembly Library under the theme "Forum Together - The Role of Civil Society for the Success of the Lee Jaemyung Administration."
This forum was organized based on the awareness that civil society must play an active role and participate as a substantive agent in state affairs.
The event focused on the Lee Jaemyung administration's key initiatives, such as the "Basic Society Policy" and "Balanced Regional Development," and served as a venue for in-depth discussion on concrete ways for civil society to participate in policy creation and implementation.
The event was attended by Democratic Party lawmaker Park Suhyeon, as well as representatives from civil society organizations, experts, and policy practitioners, who engaged in lively debates.
In his congratulatory remarks, lawmaker Park Suhyeon stated, "Civil society must go beyond being a mere watchdog to become a co-creator of policy and a partner in democracy, serving as a central pillar in state governance." He added, "I hope today's forum will serve as a catalyst for realizing an inclusive nation and transforming Korea into a cultural state under the Lee Jaemyung administration."
Lee Jinyong, Executive Representative of the Korea Voters Central Association, emphasized, "The Basic Society Policy and balanced development are tasks of our era and the key to the success of the Lee Jaemyung administration." He stressed, "To realize these goals, civil society must participate in state affairs with a more proactive and responsible attitude."
He particularly noted, "It is highly symbolic that former Gyeongnam Governor Kim Kyungsoo, who was an early advocate of the vision for local autonomy, has been appointed as chairperson of the Presidential Committee for the Era of Local Autonomy." He added, "His policy leadership will play a decisive role in concretizing balanced regional development."
Lee further stated, "In our modern political history, there has been a vicious cycle of presidents or their families facing investigations or punishment after leaving office." He emphasized, "Politics must not become a national risk factor.
The successful completion of state affairs by President Lee Jaemyung is a task that all citizens should support, regardless of their political stance."
Meanwhile, the forum also featured the launch ceremony for the "K-pop International Cultural Olympics," during which participants discussed ways to enhance national competitiveness through the sustainable spread of the Korean Wave and the strategic utilization of the cultural industry. This initiative aims to establish a platform for cultural diplomacy and global cooperation centered on K-content.
Forum participants proposed practical measures for civil society action, including: ▲utilization of policy proposal platforms ▲fostering social economy enterprises ▲expansion of participation in democratic citizenship education ▲increased attention to and intervention in social issues ▲strengthening the organizational activities of civic groups ▲solidarity across generations ▲participation in resident autonomy ▲and the spread of community culture, thereby specifying the direction for consolidating civil society's capabilities.
This forum served as an opportunity to reaffirm the contemporary demand that civil society must go beyond simple criticism and monitoring to become a co-designer and main agent of policy implementation. The Korea Voters Central Association plans to continue focusing on realizing sustainable policy governance based on civic capacity.
