A woman in her 50s who was declared brain-dead after collapsing at home has given the gift of new life through organ donation and has passed away peacefully.

On August 4, the Korea Organ Donation Agency reported that Kim Sohyang, aged 51, donated her liver while in a brain-dead state at Inha University Hospital on June 30. Kim was found collapsed in her home bathroom and was immediately transported to the hospital, but she never regained consciousness and fell into a brain-dead state.

Her family agreed to brain-dead organ donation, hoping that Kim, who loved people and always enjoyed helping others, would do something beautiful to save someone's life even in her final moments.

The bereaved family stated that Kim was a bright and proactive person who liked to lead others and was always able to stand up confidently against injustice.

Kim's son, Yoo Hanjoo, said, "Being born as my mother's son is the greatest fortune of my life. She always expressed her affection, but I only feel sorry for avoiding it out of embarrassment. I love you," he said in his final farewell.
