Available for Download on the National Folk Museum of Korea Website
The National Folk Museum of Korea announced on the 4th that it has published the "2024 Regional Free-Theme Folklore Survey Report by the National Folk Museum of Korea," consisting of five volumes, as a result of its regional folklore research.
The report covers the following topics: ▲ Mojeong, a pavilion built at the entrance of rural villages or between settlements and plains in the Honam region; ▲ Nongak, which is the root of traditional Korean music and one of the representative rituals in agrarian society; ▲ The food of the Jeju Keun Gut, which is the highest offering to the gods and a medium enjoyed by both gods and humans; ▲ Gilgunakchilchae, which refers to playing the jing seven times in one rhythm while walking; ▲ The stories of the displaced residents of Yangji Village in Sanggye-dong, who settled in a new area due to commercial area redevelopment but now face the risk of being displaced again from their new settlement due to residential area redevelopment.
Since 2022, the National Folk Museum of Korea has been discovering regional folklore and supporting researchers' writing activities through the publication of the "Regional Free-Theme Folklore Survey Report." The museum plans to continue soliciting projects annually to introduce the field and everyday culture of Korean folklore to the public.
The full text of the newly published report can be downloaded and read from the website of the National Folk Museum of Korea.
