Expansion of Welfare Infrastructure for Children and Adolescents
Jongno-gu, Seoul (District Mayor: Chung Moonhun), has established the district's first 'Jongno Youth Culture Center' at 83 Changsin-gil to promote the healthy growth and welfare of children and adolescents. In addition, the district will completely rebuild the outdated 'Cheongun Byeolbit Daycare Center' with modern facilities.

The Jongno Youth Culture Center, scheduled to open in November this year, has a total floor area of 1,217.58 square meters and consists of three above-ground floors. Construction is currently in its final stages. The first floor will feature a multipurpose auditorium; the second floor will provide creative activity spaces for youth, including a dance studio, band room, meeting room, and coin karaoke room; and the third floor will offer program rooms that blend traditional aesthetics with modern sensibilities.
Located within a complex facility that includes the Changsin Sodam Public Parking Lot, the center will also provide 176 parking spaces and a public library, making it a cultural hub for daily life accessible to all generations.
The Cheongun Byeolbit Daycare Center, which was built 43 years ago, will be completely rebuilt to improve the childcare environment. The current site will be transformed into a park, while a new daycare center with a total floor area of 574.41 square meters will be constructed nearby. The new facility will include childcare rooms, playrooms, kitchens, and staff rooms, enhancing safety and professionalism for both children and teachers. The goal is to open in the first half of next year.
This year, Jongno-gu invested 33.2 billion won to support high-quality public childcare services. Through its flagship 'Jongno-type Subsidy Support Project,' the district provides special activity and experiential learning fees for children aged 2 to 5, as well as childcare fees, meal expenses, and snack costs for infants and young children aged 0 to 5 and children from vulnerable groups.
Chung Moonhun, Mayor of Jongno-gu, stated, "I hope that the 'Jongno Youth Culture Center' and 'Cheongun Byeolbit Daycare Center' will become spaces that nurture the dreams and hopes of future generations." He added, "We will continue to expand welfare infrastructure and strengthen care services to ensure that children and adolescents can grow up safely and healthily."
