'2025 Groove in Gwanak' to Be Held at Byeolbitnaerincheon on July 30-31

From Dance Battles to Performances by World-Renowned B-boy Crews

Gwanak District in Seoul (District Mayor Park Junhee) will host the representative youth street dance festival, "2025 Groove in Gwanak," on July 30-31 this year at the Byeolbitnaerincheon (Dorimcheon) area.

"Groove in Gwanak" is a signature summer festival organized by Gwanak District and hosted by the Gwanak Cultural Foundation. Last year, it attracted over 50,000 participants and received great support from young people. Marking its fourth year, the district will collaborate with various related organizations to present the festival on a larger scale and with more diverse content.

Main events include competitions such as the "Teenager 2on2 Battle" and "Freestyle 1on1 Battle," which will feature dancers from across the country, as well as performances by world-renowned b-boy crews "Prime Kingz" and "Lock N Roll Crew." There will also be hands-on programs for families, and famous DJs and judges from Korea and abroad will participate in judging the dance battles and enliven the stage.

Support measures for the growth of young artists have also been prepared, such as programs for aspiring artists in collaboration with Seoul National University, nationwide dance clubs, and the Arts Council Korea, as well as programs to support overseas advancement.

Under Bongnimgyo Bridge, the district has planned an open space for all generations, featuring street culture lectures and hands-on corners such as drum performances, DJ scratching, graffiti, and special hair styling experiences, as well as EDM programs for children, a youth brand flea market, and a street fashion studio.

Prior to the main event, there will be preliminary programs: the "Let's Groove" warm-up dance program open to everyone at the entrance of Gwanaksan Mountain on July 15, and a dance busking event in conjunction with the Seoul International Garden Expo at Boramae Park on July 23. "Groove in Gwanak" is evolving into a global festival that expands its theme from street dance to the entirety of street culture, combining art, culture, and the economy.

Park Junhee, Mayor of Gwanak District, stated, "Groove in Gwanak is more than just a dance performance; it is an integrated cultural platform that connects the community and generations based on the autonomy and creativity of youth. We will continue to enhance Gwanak's status as the capital of youth culture and pursue policies for a better life for young people."
