People Power Party's Jo Jiyeon Donates Livelihood Support Fund: "Focus Aid on Vulnerable Groups, Not Equal Distribution"

Providing 200 Servings of Samgyetang

On August 3, Jo Jiyeon, a member of the People Power Party representing Gyeongsan, North Gyeongsang Province, announced that she had participated in a volunteer activity distributing Samgyetang to families of national merit in the Gyeongsan area by donating her Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon.

During the supplementary budget review at the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts in June, Representative Jo raised an issue regarding the distribution method of the Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon, stating that "instead of providing the same amount to everyone nationwide, more substantial support should be given to vulnerable groups." To put this into practice, she donated the Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon she received to families of national merit on August 2.

With the donated coupon, Representative Jo purchased ingredients for Samgyetang and, together with the Gyeongsan Vision Volunteer Group, participated in every step of the process from early morning, including preparing and cooking the chicken and packaging the meals, carefully preparing 200 servings of Samgyetang.

Representative Jo stated, "Since the livelihood economy is in a very difficult situation, we must look out for those in even greater need first," and pointed out, "Rather than distributing the enormous budget of 13 trillion won equally to all citizens, it would have been much more effective to concentrate support on vulnerable groups."

She further emphasized, "I will continue to speak out to ensure that the limited national budget is allocated where it is most urgently needed and to push for a proper shift in policy direction."
