Changwon Special City Launches Full-Scale "Experience Living in the Countryside" Program to Support Returning Farmers

The Changwon Special City Agricultural Technology Center in Gyeongnam will officially operate the "Experience Living in the Countryside Support Project" at the Bitdolbaegi Rural Experience and Recreation Village in Daesan-myeon until the end of November, in order to support the stable settlement of urban residents returning to farming.

This project is a residency program that allows urban residents who wish to return to farming to live in the countryside for a certain period, interact with local residents, and directly experience agricultural activities and rural life. Through this initiative, Changwon City aims to showcase the appeal of rural areas to city dwellers and encourage actual relocation to the countryside.


Seven urban residents from other regions are participating, and for four months, educational and experiential events related to returning to farming will be held, including crop cultivation, agricultural product processing, and community activities.


All expenses necessary for accommodation and education will be fully covered for the participants, and the program will be jointly operated by village managers and local residents to actively support participants' adaptation.


Kang Jongsun, Director of the Agricultural Technology Center, stated, "I hope this 'Experience Living in the Countryside Support Project' will provide urban residents with the opportunity to directly experience rural life and design a new agricultural future in Changwon," adding, "We will continue to create vibrant rural communities through effective support policies for those returning to farming."
