Songpa District in Seoul (District Mayor Seo Kangseok) is accepting entries for a smartphone photography contest themed around the ‘Songpa Dullegil’ until the 15th of this month. The Songpa Dullegil, which is surrounded by four rivers?Seokchon Lake, the Hangang River, Seongnaecheon, Jangjicheon, and Tancheon?is an urban retreat that combines approximately 21 kilometers of waterways and forest trails.
This contest was planned by the local residents’ group ‘Munjeong 2-dong Riverside Sensibility Keepers’ near Tancheon and is sponsored by Genesis BBQ Co., Ltd. The contest theme is ‘Everyday Life and Special Moments in the Riverside Spaces of Songpa Dullegil.’ Any district resident may submit up to two photographs taken with a smartphone. Only photos taken with smartphones are eligible, and entries that are plagiarized, submitted by proxy, or digitally manipulated may be disqualified or penalized.
Judging will take place in August, and the top 10 entries will receive a certificate from the district mayor and will be exhibited at the community center and the Songpa Youth Center. Additionally, 50 participants will be selected by lottery to receive a chicken gifticon.
Recently, Songpa District has been promoting the Jangjicheon Riverside Vitality Hub Project, aiming to significantly improve riverside accessibility and the environment by connecting the river with the Garden Five Central Plaza and installing rest areas and observation decks.
Seo Kangseok, Mayor of Songpa District, stated, “I hope more people will discover the charm of Songpa, a beautiful riverside city, and I will do my best to continuously improve the riverside environment.”
