Korea Institute of Energy Technology (KENTECH) has described the government's announcement of the "Korean-Style Next-Generation Power Grid Construction" as a new turning point opening the future of energy.
On August 1, KENTECH released a statement welcoming the announcement, saying, "This is the moment when the very future our university has dreamed of since we took root in Naju, Jeollanam-do in 2022 with the vision of energy transition, is becoming reality. The vision to establish Jeollanam-do as an innovation base for the next-generation power grid is a valuable message confirming that the path we have taken as an energy-specialized university has been the right one."
The university further emphasized, "KENTECH is already prepared. Together with a world-class faculty, we will dedicate all our capabilities?honed through research in microgrids, renewable energy, and AI convergence technologies?to this historic mission."
Specifically, KENTECH outlined the following: ▲Fostering next-generation power grid experts: nurturing specialists in microgrids, AI-based power control systems, and energy policy; ▲Supporting the creation of RE100 industrial complexes: assisting in the development of a Korean-style Silicon Valley and Research Triangle Park, and establishing a 'K-Grid and startup ecosystem' through industry-academia-research cooperation; ▲Developing energy superhighway technologies: conducting R&D on intelligent and advanced power grids and new energy technologies for a national power grid transformation; ▲Serving as an international cooperation hub: contributing as a central axis of the global energy innovation network.
Additionally, the university stated, "KENTECH will actively work with the local community, the nation, and students to foster the energy industry as Korea's second semiconductor industry," adding, "As a hub for global energy cooperation and a core pillar of the K-Future Energy One Team, we will help design the future of Korea's energy industry."
