Providing Customized Medical Care Services
This pilot project aims to expand the existing elderly-centered medical care services to include persons with disabilities. It seeks to establish an integrated care system tailored to the life cycle of persons with disabilities, taking into account their age and specific characteristics, and to provide customized medical care services.
The support targets persons under the age of 65 with severe physical disabilities or brain lesions. After a comprehensive assessment by the National Pension Service, their individual needs and health conditions will be identified, and they will receive customized medical care services.
The main services include: ▲ home visits by medical professionals for health management (home medical care), ▲ support for physical activity and daily living, ▲ provision of balanced meals, ▲ assistance with outings and hospital visits, and ▲ pest control and disinfection of residences.
Kim Ikang, Mayor of Seo-gu District, stated, "This service marks the beginning of expanding the welfare foundation so that persons with disabilities can live healthily and safely within the local community. We will continue to proactively respond to the changing needs of residents and build a more comprehensive care system."
Meanwhile, since 2019, Seo-gu District has been leading a community-based integrated care initiative, successfully establishing the nation's first integrated care model and positioning itself as a representative care city in Korea.
Additionally, Seo-gu is working to create a "zero welfare gap, Seo-gu where all 12 months are happy" through projects such as "Our Neighborhood Neighbor Care Group" for households at risk of solitary death, and the "Family Care Youth Support Project" for young people who have had to give up their dreams due to family care responsibilities.
