Mayor Park Kangsoo of Mapo-gu: "Terminal Station of Daejang-Hongdae Line Must Be Relocated"

Serious Damage to Hongdae's Culture, Commercial District, and Pedestrian Environment

"If a station entrance and exit are installed on Red Road, the cultural tourism infrastructure of Hongdae will be seriously damaged, and there will also be negative impacts on pedestrian safety and the walking environment. We strongly urge the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport to relocate the station to Hongdae Entrance Intersection, where pedestrian flow can be more efficiently dispersed and the sidewalk width and available space are better secured."

Mayor Park Kangsoo of Mapo-gu: "Terminal Station of Daejang-Hongdae Line Must Be Relocated" Park Gangsu, mayor of Mapo District, is attending a press conference opposing the installation of the Daejang-Hongdae line Red Road history at Red Road R2 and expressing his opposition. Provided by Mapo District.

Park Kangsoo, the Mayor of Mapo-gu, Seoul, visited the site of the press conference for the "Emergency Committee Against the Installation of the Daejang-Hongdae Line Red Road Station," held at "Red Road R2" at 6:00 p.m. on the 31st, and strongly demanded the relocation of Station 111, the terminal station of the Daejang-Hongdae Line.

The press conference was hosted by the "Emergency Committee Against the Installation of the Daejang-Hongdae Line Red Road Station" (co-chaired by Choi Chasu), which was formed to oppose the plan to install the terminal station of the Daejang-Hongdae Line near Exit 8 of Hongdae Entrance Station on Red Road. The committee consists of Hongdae merchants, residents, and artists, who are concerned about cultural and commercial damage and the deterioration of the pedestrian environment that may result from the station's installation.

The press conference was moderated by Kang Byungsu, an artist who has been active in Hongdae for a long time. Afterwards, representatives of merchants, residents, and artists each made statements expressing their opposition. The participants clearly demonstrated their opposition by holding a parade that started at Red Road R2 and passed by the tourist information center, Hongik-ro 6-gil, Aekyung, and Red Road R1.

Mapo-gu stated that it had conducted its own study to change the location of Station 111 and, based on the results, officially requested the relevant authorities, including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, to relocate the station.
