Launch of "EV Smart Care" for Integrated Electric Vehicle Battery Management
Developed in partnership with LG Energy Solution, EV Smart Care collects, analyzes, and manages key information such as driving data, charging patterns, and battery status of electric vehicles during charging or driving. This is accomplished via a wireless dongle that is easily installed in the vehicle's self-diagnosis system (OBD-II) port.
This information is transmitted to the vehicle owner's smartphone app, allowing users to easily check the status of their EV and its battery. In addition, artificial intelligence (AI) technology is applied to not only predict the maximum performance range of the battery but also to provide personalized guidelines for healthy battery management.
Notably, EV Smart Care includes a feature that monitors the battery status while the vehicle is being driven or charged, or for approximately 80 seconds after parking without charging. If any abnormal signs that deviate from certain criteria are detected, the system sends a notification via text message to the vehicle owner.
Owners can intuitively recognize the battery status, and this information is also sent to the call center and service center, enabling quicker identification and resolution of issues.
Starting August 1, new Volkswagen "ID.4" and "ID.5" vehicles will be delivered with the dongle pre-installed at the PDI center. New customers can use the service free of charge for one year. Existing customers can purchase the device at official service centers. The consumer price is 300,000 KRW (excluding VAT, including dongle hardware, 12-month app subscription, and installation labor).
