Five Categories Including Culture and Sports, and Love for Hometown and Volunteerism
Jeongeup City in North Jeolla Province will be accepting nominations for candidates for the "Jeongeup Citizen's Award" until August 29, in order to discover individuals who have illuminated the region and hidden contributors.
According to the city on July 31, the Citizen's Award is presented in five categories: Culture and Sports, Love for Hometown and Volunteerism, Agriculture and Industry Economy, Filial Piety and Good Deeds, and Honorary Citizenship. The awardees are selected among individuals who have made outstanding contributions in each field.
Nominees must be citizens who have made significant contributions to the development of city administration and must have resided in Jeongeup for at least three years as of the announcement date. However, for the Love for Hometown and Volunteerism and Honorary Citizenship categories, individuals who have moved away from Jeongeup may also be exceptionally recommended. Those eligible to recommend candidates include heads of city-level institutions, heads of social organizations, principals of schools, heads of towns and villages, and heads of city departments.
Recommendation forms must be submitted to the administrative welfare centers of towns and villages or to the General Affairs Division at City Hall by August 29. The selection process will include on-site investigations and a strict review by the Citizen's Award Selection Committee. The final awardees will be honored at this year's Citizen's Day ceremony. For more details, please refer to the city hall website or contact the General Affairs Division.
Mayor Lee Haksoo stated, "The Jeongeup Citizen's Award is the highest honor representing the city, and I hope that outstanding individuals who have quietly devoted themselves to the community in various fields will be discovered," adding, "I ask for the active interest and recommendations of all citizens."
