Since the beginning of the year, more than 3.1214 trillion won has flowed into KODEX Money Market Active, making it the ETF with the largest increase in net assets this year. Not only institutional investors but also individual investors are rapidly investing in the fund. Since its listing, KODEX Money Market Active has recorded a cumulative net purchase of 426.4 billion won by individuals, the largest among domestic parking-type ETFs.
KODEX Money Market Active is designed based on the management style of money market funds (MMFs) that invest in highly liquid assets with strong credit ratings, such as ultra-short-term bonds and commercial paper (CP). While maintaining a portfolio similar to general MMFs, it is subject to less regulatory burden than traditional MMFs, allowing for more flexible management.
To minimize risks from interest rate fluctuations and market volatility, the fund strictly limits its investment targets and builds a portfolio focused on high-credit assets, thereby enhancing stability. Even in rapidly changing market environments, it provides a reliable foundation for investors to safely manage their short-term funds.
The fact that it can pursue higher returns than general MMFs, even when the base interest rate is at 2.50% per annum, has also contributed to strong buying demand. Since its listing in August last year, the KODEX Money Market Active ETF has recorded an annualized return of 3.43%, attracting significant attention from institutional investors seeking short-term fund management.
Yoon Sungin, a manager at Samsung Asset Management, stated, "Based on our experience managing the largest credit MMFs, we are thoroughly managing credit and carefully selecting high-quality assets to pursue stable returns amid increasing uncertainty over monetary policy."
He added, "With an inevitable interest rate cut expected within the year to stimulate the economy, the KODEX Money Market Active ETF will be a short-term fund management product that can offer investors additional returns."
The KODEX Money Market Active ETF can be fully included (100%) in individual retirement pension (IRP, DC) accounts, making it an effective alternative for managing idle funds within pension portfolios.
