Enjoy the Festival with Safe Food
'Food Poisoning Emergency Response Team' and 'On-site Food Safety Inspection Teams' to Operate Throughout the Festival Period
As the 'Daejeon 0 O'Clock Festival', which attracted 2 million visitors last year, approaches on August 8, the city of Daejeon has launched a large-scale food safety management initiative to ensure the safe provision of food during the festival.
From July 30 to August 1, the city will conduct joint inspections with district offices at 60 multi-use facilities with high foot traffic, such as Daejeon Station and the Integrated Terminal, to create an environment where festival visitors can feel safe and secure.
The purpose of these inspections is to strengthen food safety management during the festival period and to prevent food poisoning.
This year, six food zones will be set up near the festival, including the Jungang-ro Food Specialty Street, Daeheung-dong Shopping District, Dong-gu Daejeoncheon Dried Seafood Street, Taejeon-ro Korean Medicine Street, and the Central Market Revitalization Area Merchants Association. In particular, new food zones such as the Eunheungjeongi Pocha Street will also be operated, drawing increased interest from both citizens and tourists.
The city has provided special hygiene education to all food zone operators for the prevention of food poisoning. In addition, on-site promotional activities such as distributing hygiene guidelines and sanitary masks to operators are being carried out to foster a voluntary culture of hygiene management.
During the festival, the city of Daejeon and the five autonomous districts will operate a 'Food Poisoning Emergency Response Team' at all times, and 'On-site Food Safety Inspection Teams' will be deployed at major event venues such as the food zones to conduct real-time hygiene inspections.
Tae Junup, Director of Sports and Health for the city of Daejeon, stated, "As a large crowd is expected despite the hot weather, we are thoroughly preparing with pre-inspections and on-site management," and added, "We will do our best to make the 2025 Daejeon 0 O'Clock Festival an even richer and more memorable summer festival by providing safe and reliable food."
