Bubal Station is a stop for both the Gyeonggang Line and the KTX Jungbunaeryuk Line. However, the existing public parking lot has only 200 spaces, which has led to chronic parking shortages.
The parking lot is being constructed by leasing idle land owned by the National Railroad Authority. Once the temporary parking lot is completed, the total number of public parking spaces will increase to 472, which is expected to help resolve the parking shortage.
Meanwhile, the city is actively working to secure additional parking spaces by utilizing privately owned land to address the ongoing parking shortage. A representative example is the "Publicly Opened Parking Lot Project."
This project involves opening privately owned idle land to citizens free of charge for a certain period, while providing property tax exemptions to the landowners in return. Last month, the city established its first publicly opened parking lot with 90 spaces in the area of 448-6 and 450-8, Ocheon-ri, Majang-myeon. Icheon City is directly responsible for the maintenance and management of the parking lot on this site.
The city plans to comprehensively review parking demand and the status of private land to secure additional publicly opened parking lot sites near residential and commercial areas.
An Icheon City official stated, "We will continue to steadily expand parking spaces based on the results of surveys on the supply and demand of parking lots in major areas."
