The 'Homeplus Hanmaeum Council,' the labor-management consultative body and employee representative organization at Homeplus, announced on July 30 that it had delivered an appeal to the Presidential Office, calling for the swift conclusion of Homeplus's rehabilitation proceedings and the smooth progress of a pre-approval merger and acquisition (M&A).

The appeal was signed by a total of 21,888 employees, including those working at Homeplus stores nationwide, Express stores, the online business division, logistics centers, headquarters, as well as employees of partner companies and tenants in Homeplus malls.

The Hanmaeum Council stated, "The signatures reflect our desperate determination to protect our livelihoods and workplaces amid this uncertain situation." The council further argued, "If the rehabilitation proceedings are prolonged, the company's value will decrease and the possibility of recovery will diminish. Therefore, a pre-approval M&A must be successfully completed."

The council also added, "Regardless of the cause of the rehabilitation, what employees need most at this moment is a 'stable daily life and workplace.' The sincere wishes of employees?to see the company return to normal as soon as possible so they can go back to the happy, everyday lives they once enjoyed with their families without further anxiety or confusion?are contained in this appeal."

Meanwhile, the Homeplus Hanmaeum Council is a labor-management consultative body composed of worker representatives elected from major business sites across the country, including hypermarkets, Express stores, logistics centers, and bakeries. The council serves as a bridge, conveying employees' voices to management through meetings by job level and regular consultative sessions.

The council appealed, "We hope the government will recognize that this issue goes beyond a simple management matter and encompasses employment, livelihood consumption, and the regional economy."
