Boseong County Installs and Operates Cooling Fog Systems at Three Local Traditional Markets

"Protecting Merchants and Visitors from the Heat Wave"

South Jeolla Province's Boseong County (Governor Kim Cheolwoo) announced on July 30, 2025, that it has been selected for the Ministry of Environment's 2024 public project, "Support Project for Climate Crisis Vulnerable Groups and Regions." Through this selection, the county secured a total project budget of 750 million KRW, including national funding, and has been operating a Cooling Fog system in the Beolgyo Traditional Market area since July 14.

Through this project, Cooling Fog systems have been installed at three locations: Nokchagol Boseong Local Market, Beolgyo 5-Day Market, and Beolgyo Daily Market. The systems have been fully activated to protect residents, merchants, and market visitors from the intense heat during the summer.

Beolgyo Traditional Market, which is frequented by many visitors, has been equipped with 34 Cooling Fog mist fans and 150 meters of mist nozzle bars, creating a system that provides cool air and fine mist throughout the entire shopping area. The Cooling Fog system operates flexibly between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. whenever the temperature exceeds 27 degrees Celsius.

Governor Kim Cheolwoo stated, "With the installation of the Cooling Fog system, Beolgyo Market is expected to become the coolest and most comfortable traditional market during the summer. We will continue to focus on maintaining the facilities and improving the environment so that residents and merchants can visit the market with peace of mind even during heat waves."
