Policy Research with Teacher Participation
Realizing Field-Oriented Educational Policies
The Busan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Kim Seokjun) announced that it held the '2025 Field Research Committee Interim Presentation' for three days from July 22 at the conference room of the Education Office annex, targeting key policy department (agency) officials and research school representatives.
Teachers with master's and doctoral degrees currently serving as field research committee members have been conducting various projects, including: ▲A study on the effectiveness of policies to improve basic academic skills among middle school students ▲Research on alternative education directions to support students at risk of dropping out ▲Development of an evaluator consultation model to strengthen expertise in scoring essay-type and discursive assessments.
A total of 18 research committee members participated in this presentation, sharing interim results and research directions for each project, and engaging in Q&A sessions with policy officials and research school representatives. Through this process, policy departments were able to gain insights necessary for improving educational policies, while research committee members received feedback to enhance the quality of their research.
In particular, outstanding researchers will participate as presenters at the upcoming '2025 Busan Education Hanmadang Forum,' where they will share research achievements with the educational community and seek progressive policy directions together.
The field research committee members were appointed in May this year. These teachers, who combine practical school experience and academic expertise, are directly participating in policy research and contributing to the establishment of highly effective policies.
Superintendent Kim Seokjun emphasized, "Policy research involving teachers who know the realities of schools best is the key to enhancing the effectiveness of educational policies," and added, "I hope this presentation will serve as an opportunity to bring about substantial change in school settings."
