Sumi Jo Concert to Be Held at Special Stage in Baegot Saengmyeong Park
Local Residents to Host "Baegot Sunset Festival" in Conjunction
As a pre-opening program for the Siheung Art Center, the city will hold the "Preview Festa" over two days, from September 20 to 21, at a special outdoor stage in Baegot Saengmyeong Park.
Currently under construction at 255 Daehak-ro, Baegot New Town, the Siheung Art Center will be the city's first professional performance venue. It will feature a large theater with 710 seats and a small theater with 301 seats. The center is being developed as a complex cultural and arts space where visitors can enjoy high-quality performances such as operas and musicals.
On the first day of the Preview Festa, September 20, a concert by soprano Jo Sumi will take place. Prior to the concert, an opening ceremony will be held, during which Siheung City and the National Opera Company will sign an agreement to promote cultural arts and performances. On the following day, a pre-performance for the K-Voice Ensemble International Festival and a gala concert by the National Opera Company are scheduled.
The city will operate this event in conjunction with the "Baegot Sunset Festival," organized by the Baegot 1 and 2 Residents' Autonomy Associations. On-site, there will also be an art market experience zone and a food zone, operated in collaboration with local merchants.
All seats for the performances will be free for Siheung residents. Those wishing to attend can make advance reservations (up to two tickets per person) on a first-come, first-served basis via the Siheung Art Center website, starting at 2:00 p.m. on September 8.
Additionally, from September 6 to November 8, the city plans to hold a touring performance series titled "Traveling Siheung Art Center," featuring both local and professional arts organizations, throughout the city over a two-month period.
