On the 29th (local time), Koo Yooncheol, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs and Minister of Economy and Finance, arrived in the United States and held trade consultations with Howard Lutnick, U.S. Secretary of Commerce, for two hours starting at 3:00 p.m.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance announced this through a press release on the 30th. Kim Jeonggwan, Minister of Trade, Industry and Energy, and Yeo Hangu, Deputy Minister for Trade Negotiations at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, also attended the trade consultations.

It appears that Deputy Prime Minister Koo entered into discussions with Secretary Lutnick immediately upon his arrival in Washington, D.C. The specific location was not disclosed.

Given that Minister Kim has previously held multiple consultations with Secretary Lutnick, who is his counterpart, it appears that the scope of contact between the two countries has been expanded.

Deputy Prime Minister Koo, upon entering the United States via Dulles International Airport near Washington, stated, "I am here to meet Scott Besant, Secretary of the Treasury, who makes the most important decisions in the Korea-U.S. trade negotiations," and added, "I will thoroughly explain Korea-U.S. economic cooperation projects, including those related to shipbuilding, and pursue negotiations centered on national interests."

Deputy Prime Minister Koo is scheduled to meet with Secretary Besant in Washington on the 31st.
