On July 28, Geumho-eup in Yeongcheon City announced that the local Community Social Security Council (civilian chairperson Kim Heeju) and the Korean Red Cross Geumho Magnolia Volunteer Group (president Park Jeonghee) collaborated to carry out the "Bbanggeut Sharing Project" for senior citizens.
This project was carried out as part of the "Together for Happiness Fund" initiative.
Yeongcheon City Geumho-eup Community Security Council (Private Chairman Kim Heeju) and the Korean Red Cross Geumho Magnolia Volunteer Society (President Park Junghui) are collaborating to make bread for the elderly.
The project name "Bbanggeut" combines "bread sharing" (bbang nanuem) and "warm smile" (banggeut miso), expressing the intention to deliver warm smiles to seniors through carefully made bread.
More than 20 members from the two organizations began preparing ingredients at the Yeongcheon Confectionery and Baking Academy from the afternoon of the day before the event, and made and packaged over 1,000 pieces of bread by the event day.
The finished bread was distributed to 36 senior centers in the area, and all members participated with one heart and mind throughout every step of the process.
Kim Heeju, the civilian chairperson, said, "I hope that the bread made with care will provide warm comfort to the seniors in the community."
Park Jeonghee, the president, shared, "Although we have often volunteered to share bread, this time it was even more meaningful because the two organizations joined forces to deliver our warm hearts to the seniors."
Son Taeguk, the head of Geumho-eup, expressed his aspirations by saying, "Going forward, we will continue to seek various support measures for local seniors through cooperation between the public and private sectors, based on respect and care for the elderly in our community."
