Yeongam County in South Jeolla Province has been recognized for its achievements in policy innovation through a public-private cooperation model aimed at improving agricultural structures, winning the top prize in the economic sector at the Manifesto Competition.

The county announced on the 28th that it received the top prize in the "Economic and Regional Industry Support" category at the "15th National Basic Local Government Heads Manifesto Best Practices Competition," which was held on the 24th at Kyungpook National University in Andong, North Gyeongsang Province.

This competition was jointly hosted by the Korea Manifesto Implementation Headquarters and the Gyeongbuk Research Institute, under the theme "Resilient Cities, Humanitas Cities." Out of 401 cases in seven categories, 191 advanced to the finals and competed through presentations.

While representatives from 144 basic local governments nationwide presented their pledge fulfillment and policy cases, Yeongam County received the highest score for its case titled "Yeongam-style Agricultural Policy Transformation: Agricultural Innovation through Item-specific Cooperation."

The county drew attention for its policy shift that addressed agricultural issues not simply through subsidies but by focusing on public-private cooperation. The policy design and implementation process, which involved item-specific organizations and the local community, was highly evaluated.

County Governor Woo Seunghee said, "I am delighted to receive the top prize for a policy that residents can feel in their daily lives," and added, "The Yeongam-style agricultural policy transformation is a case that aligns with the government's agricultural structure innovation direction and will become a model of cooperative agricultural policy where the public and private sectors share responsibility."

Meanwhile, in May, the county also achieved the highest SA grade for the third consecutive year in the "8th Popularly Elected Basic Local Government Heads Pledge Implementation Evaluation" conducted by the Korea Manifesto Implementation Headquarters, proving its top-level competitiveness nationwide in pledge fulfillment and policy outcomes.
