The Sea Festival, the signature festival of Busan, is set to sweep through the beach city like a wave, even as the city remains gripped by a heatwave.
The Busan Metropolitan Government (Mayor Park Heongjoon) announced on July 28 that the 29th Busan Sea Festival will be held from August 1 to August 3 in the vicinity of Dadaepo Beach in Saha-gu.
This year, the Sea Festival will feature a variety of sophisticated programs at Dadaepo Beach in Saha-gu. The event will be enriched with a harmonious blend of diverse participatory programs, attractions, and food offerings, including the 'Dadae Fireworks Show' set against the sunset, 'Dadaepocha'?the largest beach food stall in the country, and the newly introduced 'Dadaeyajang.'
On August 1, the opening day, the festival will kick off with an opening ceremony alongside the unique 'Dadae Fireworks Show.' The Dadae Fireworks Show will take place during the golden hour at Dadaepo Beach, a well-known sunset spot. Starting at 7:45 PM, the event will begin with a coastal water performance under the theme 'Sunset Hour,' followed by a grand finale as fireworks light up the entire sea.
Other major events include the Sunset Beach Club (August 2?3) and Dadaepocha (August 1?3).
The Sunset Beach Club will be held for the first time at Dadaepo and is a paid program with limited admission. It will operate for two weekend days from 2 PM to 10 PM, offering ocean leisure experiences such as surfing and paddleboarding, as well as DJ performances and concerts by a variety of artists including Sunwoo Jung-a, George, CHS, Car the Garden, O3ohn, and Windy City.
Dadaepocha will be set up on one side of the sandy beach. Visitors can enjoy beer and a variety of foods against the romantic backdrop of Busan's night sea. This year, the seating has been expanded to 2,000, double last year's 1,000 seats, making it the largest in the country.
As a side event, 'Dadaeyajang' will be created on the east coast of Dadaepo Beach, providing a space to enjoy local restaurants and street performances (busking). In addition, various performances, experiences, and participatory programs will be offered as side events.
From the afternoon of the opening day, a healing program for people with disabilities, the 'Disability Hanbada Festival,' will be held at Blue Square. On August 2, the 'Dadaepo Folk Rock Concert' will take place, and on August 3, the 'Open Sea Open Music Concert,' an event for all generations, will be held at 7 PM against the backdrop of the Dadaepo sunset.
Other programs include 'Dadaeyajang' in collaboration with local businesses, the forest outdoor concert 'Dadae Forest,' the relaxation space 'Sunset Lounge,' the healing 'Sunset Wellness Zone,' 'Sunset Meong Park' for visitors with dogs, and the 'Fountain Pirate Crew' for children.
On August 1, the opening day, safety will be managed by limiting the number of attendees and implementing a quota system. From 4 PM, one lane of Dadae-ro and three nearby public parking lots will be restricted.
To prevent safety accidents on the opening day, the city will limit the number of spectators on the beach to approximately 35,000 (subject to adjustment based on on-site conditions). If the number exceeds the limit, visitors will be guided to alternative viewing spots such as the Gouni Ecological Trail, which also offers views of the fireworks. As traffic congestion is expected on the day of the festival, the city encourages the use of public transportation.

Mayor Park Heongjoon stated, "The number of foreign tourists visiting Busan this year has reached an all-time high in the city's history, and outlets such as The New York Times have introduced Busan as one of the world's top five beach cities. I hope you create many wonderful memories at the Busan Sea Festival, where you can enjoy the romantic sunset of Dadaepo, spectacular fireworks, and a variety of food offerings."
