Collaboration Aims to Pioneer Export Channels and Support Poultry Farms

Genesis BBQ Group (hereafter BBQ) and Highland Food Group, a company specializing in distribution and processing (hereafter Highland), announced on the 28th that they had signed a strategic business agreement (MOU) on the 25th to enter the European market.

This agreement reflects the determination of both companies to actively expand their global presence, following the opening of the European market to processed Korean chicken products in the third quarter of last year.

The two companies have already engaged in various practical collaborations and continued discussions on menu direction and potential for exports to Europe. BBQ representatives visited the Highland plant, which has acquired all European food certifications, to discuss cooperation measures and held product tasting events. In addition, at the Icheon Chicken University, Highland representatives and overseas buyers were invited to a menu demonstration event.

In particular, development has been completed for three types of HMR (Home Meal Replacement) products using chicken breast and tenderloin for export to Europe. On the 22nd, a quarantine sealing ceremony and export shipment ceremony were also held at the Highland Busan Center.

The two companies plan to continue sharing strategies and strengthening cooperation to pursue joint growth in the global market, including Europe.

A BBQ representative stated, "While consumption of chicken legs and wings is active in Korea, demand for chicken breast and tenderloin is sluggish, resulting in inventory burdens. To support domestic poultry farms, we have prepared exports through this collaboration." The representative added, "By pioneering export channels for domestically produced chicken breast and tenderloin to Europe through cooperation with Highland, we will achieve mutually beneficial cooperation that contributes to increasing farm income."

A Highland representative said, "This collaboration, which combines the strengths of both companies, will serve as an opportunity to present new possibilities for the globalization of Korean food," and added, "We will maximize synergy through comprehensive cooperation in the future."
