Parents Can Now Access Medical Records for Children Under 19

The Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency announced that, starting from July 28, they will provide a vaccination information inquiry service for children and seniors through the 'My Health Record' application (app).

Since September 2023, the government has been operating the 'Health Information Expressway,' an intermediary platform that allows individuals to easily view, store, and transmit their personal health and medical information, which is scattered across various public and medical institutions. Citizens can conveniently use a variety of services offered by the Health Information Expressway by downloading the My Health Record app on their smartphones.

With this app update, citizens can now easily check not only their existing vaccination history but also their upcoming vaccination schedules. In particular, information is provided on the required vaccinations and schedules included in the National Childhood Immunization Program, as well as influenza and COVID-19 vaccination information for those aged 65 and older.

Previously, the app allowed parents to access medical information only for children under the age of 14. However, the scope has now been expanded to include all minor children. If parents register children under the age of 19 who share the same registered address in the resident registration system, they can conveniently access their children's medical information at any time through the app.

Through this service, parents can view their children's medical records, prescription details, health checkup results, and vaccination history all at once. This is expected to be useful not only for regular health management of their children but also for convenient use during hospital visits.

The My Health Record app can be installed by searching for it on Google Play Store or Apple App Store, and instructions on how to use the app are available on the Health Information Expressway website.
