72% Apply for Consumption Coupon in 5 Days... 6.57 Trillion Won Disbursed

It was found that 72% of all eligible recipients have applied for the Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon.

The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 26th that, during the first five days of applications for the "Livelihood Recovery Consumption Coupon," a total of 36,425,598 people, accounting for 72.0% of all eligible recipients, had applied. The amount of support funds disbursed over the past five days was 6.5703 trillion won.

By region, Incheon had the highest application rate in the country at 77% (2,324,053 people). Jeonnam had the lowest number of applicants, with an application rate of 66.1% (1,172,451 people). In Seoul, 6,578,408 people, or 72.1% of eligible recipients, completed their applications.

By payment method, 26,960,569 people chose credit or debit cards, 3,216,232 chose prepaid cards, 5,646,922 chose local love gift certificates (mobile or card type), and 601,875 chose paper certificates.

The consumption coupon is the first economic stimulus measure of the Lee Jaemyung administration, providing 150,000 to 450,000 won per person. During the first week of the initial application period (from the 21st to the 25th), applications were processed according to the last digit of the applicant's birth year, using a day-of-the-week system to prevent application overload.

With the end of the day-of-the-week application system, starting today, anyone can apply for the consumption coupon regardless of the last digit of their birth year. The application deadline is 6:00 p.m. on September 12.

For those applying for payment via credit or debit card, applications can be made online through card company websites, applications (apps), call centers, ARS, and simple payment apps such as KakaoBank, KBank, Toss, KakaoPay, and Naver Pay. If online application is difficult, applicants can visit bank branches affiliated with each card company.

For mobile or card-type local love gift certificates, applications can be made through the local government’s gift certificate app or in person at the local community center. If you wish to receive a prepaid card or paper-type local love gift certificate, you must apply in person at the community center in your registered area. However, on-site applications are not available on weekends.

The consumption coupon can be used from the day after application until November 30. Eligible places of use are small businesses with annual sales of less than 3 billion won, excluding large supermarkets, department stores, and entertainment venues.
