The National Palace Museum of Korea under the Cultural Heritage Administration announced on the 25th that it will conduct career experience education programs for youth on the 29th of this month and the 5th of next month to mark the 20th anniversary of the museum's opening.
This program will take place in the museum, education room, conservation science lab, and exhibition hall, and is intended for elementary and middle school students who are members of the Youth National Heritage Keepers. Participants will receive a direct explanation about the overall roles and duties of the museum from Director Jeong Yongjae, and will take part in various hands-on activities and experiences with experts working at the museum.
Main activities include a lip balm making experience inspired by cosmetics excavated from the tomb of Princess Hwahyeop in Namyangju, a guided tour of exhibition artifacts, and an exploration of key facilities such as the conservation science lab within the museum.
The first session will be held on the 29th for 20 middle school students from Damyang, Jeonnam. On August 5th, 18 elementary and middle school students, who are members of the Youth National Heritage Keepers selected from Seoul, Incheon, Yongin, Daejeon, and Daegu, will participate. The students taking part in this program have been active in local government projects or organizations related to national heritage in their respective regions, but this will be their first hands-on experience at the museum.
The National Palace Museum of Korea stated, "We will continue to provide on-site experiences and educational opportunities so that young people can understand the process of preserving and utilizing royal heritage and explore career paths in the field of cultural heritage."
