Six-Month Deferral for July and September Property Taxes
Additional Six-Month Extension Available Upon Request
Gwangmyeong City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 25th that it had officially postponed the property tax payment deadline for residents affected by the apartment fire in Soha-dong on the 17th, in order to reduce their financial burden.
The tax deferral applies to 45 households residing in the affected apartment. The city extended the payment deadlines for the regular property taxes due in July and September by six months each.
As a result, the deadline for the property tax imposed on July 1, which was originally set for July 31, has been extended to January 31 of next year. The property tax scheduled to be imposed in September has also had its deadline postponed to March 31 of next year.
If taxpayers wish for an additional extension, the city will grant another six-month deferral, allowing for a maximum postponement of up to one year.
The city explained that it has completed administrative measures, such as sending notification letters to the eligible households and providing guidance via phone calls.
Park Seungwon, Mayor of Gwangmyeong, stated, "We will continue to provide practical support so that citizens struggling due to the fire can quickly return to their daily lives and settle down in stability."
