Fire and Volcano... The Red-Hued "Avatar 3" to Premiere in December

The third installment in the "Avatar" film series, "Avatar: The Seed Bearer," is set to premiere this December. The first film, released in 2009, has maintained its position as the number one global box office hit for 16 years, earning $2.92371 billion (approximately 4.0551 trillion won) worldwide.

"Avatar: The Seed Bearer" follows "Avatar" (2009) and "Avatar: The Way of Water" (2022), marking the first new release in three years. On July 23, Walt Disney Company Korea held a 3D trailer screening at CGV Yongsan in Seoul, unveiling a three-minute preview.

The trailer departs from the refreshing and verdant imagery of the previous films, instead featuring the intense presence of the "Ash Tribe," who wander the world after their civilization collapses due to a volcanic eruption. The tribe's leader, Varang, appears with striking red face paint and a piercing gaze, raising questions about how they will encounter the Sully family.

The preview also showcases dynamic battle scenes set against the sky, forest, and sea, as well as a massive creature that resembles a fusion of a jellyfish and a hot air balloon. This installment is expected to expand the story beyond the conflict between humans and the Na'vi, delving into divisions and clashes among different Na'vi tribes.

Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, and Kate Winslet will reprise their roles, while Charlie Chaplin's granddaughter, Oona Chaplin, joins the cast for the first time.
