The Gwacheon Children's Art Museum will present "Fantastic Dreamer," an event that expands on the themes of dreams, imagination, and adventure, in connection with the ongoing exhibition "Tomorrow We'll be." The program includes an advanced workshop on the works of artist Jeon Hyunsun called "Workshop of Horns," an advanced workshop on the works of artist Lee Yesung titled "Imagination Monster Studio," and a special film screening called "Fantastic Cinema," all centered around the themes of dreams, imagination, and adventure.

"Workshop of Horns" is a program where participants experiment with and create various uses for cones using cone hat templates and a variety of sensory materials. "Imagination Monster Studio" is a workshop in which children observe the artist's work "Mountain and Sky" (2025), composed of 64 3D-printed pieces, and then add their own imaginative drawings to the artwork or create imaginary creatures using natural clay.

This special workshop has prepared unique materials so that children can explore different textures with their hands and unleash their imagination. Materials include monster card activity sheets featuring patterns from images in Lee Yesung's video works, as well as natural clay made from salt and flour. The monster cards and imaginary creatures created by the children will be displayed at the Children's Art Museum after the program concludes, with some selected works featured in the artist's video project. Participation in the advanced workshops is available through on-site registration on the day of the event.

The summer special "Fantastic Cinema," which screens domestic and international animated short and feature films, will run for one day only on August 10, 2025. In the morning, the feature-length animation "James and the Giant Peach," based on the novel by Roald Dahl, will be shown. In the afternoon, a series of domestic and international animated shorts and the feature-length animation "Azur & Asmar" will be screened sequentially. "Azur & Asmar," which explores cultural differences and mutual respect between Islam and Christianity, can be enjoyed alongside the Gwacheon exhibition "Otherland II: Wael Shawky, Akram Zaatari." Reservations can be made in advance via the museum's website starting at 2:00 p.m. on July 29, 2025. Each session is limited to 300 participants on a first-come, first-served basis. Admission is free.

"FridayN Museum," held every Friday at the Gwacheon branch, will offer special programs during this period for families visiting the museum with their children on summer vacation.

On July 25, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., in the Circle Lounge on the second floor, "Art and Fragrance" will be held, where participants can share artistic interpretations through scents created in collaboration with a perfumer, inspired by works exhibited at the museum. The program will explore the spatial scent (NOTSTALGIA) that fills the artist's room, "Blue Margin, Landscape of the Mind: Kim Whanki," in the Gwacheon permanent exhibition.

On August 8 and 9, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., the film "Fujita," which highlights the lives of artists in early 20th-century Paris and wartime Japan, will be screened in the main auditorium on the first basement level. This film, which follows the life of Japanese artist Tsuguharu Fujita, who influenced modern artists through the avant-garde Western Painting Research Institute, offers a glimpse into the lives of artists from a century ago through their own perspectives. The film stars actor Joe Odagiri, who is well known in Korea for his various works.

Further details and information on how to participate in the weekly "FridayN Museum" programs are available on the museum's website.

Kim Sunghee, Director of the National Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art, stated, "We have prepared a wide range of programs for children, families, and teachers to celebrate the summer vacation," and added, "I hope that everyone will enjoy a meaningful summer vacation with their families at the Gwacheon museum, surrounded by nature."
