Management of Waste Disposal, Food Sanitation, and More
Muju County in North Jeolla Province has begun operating the 'Gucheondong Tourist Information Situation Room' as the peak vacation season gets underway.
According to the county on July 23, this situation room will be in operation until August 17 in the Samgong District of the Gucheondong Tourism Special Zone in Seolcheon-myeon, Muju County. The aim is to help visitors enjoy a safe and highly satisfying trip to Muju.
During this period, public officials in charge of tourism facilities, property management, river management, resource circulation, sanitation, local economy, transportation administration, and construction administration at Muju County Office will carry out guidance and enforcement based on relevant laws. Their duties will include managing public property, such as removing benches from provincial land, and cracking down on illegal activities such as cooking, camping, and unauthorized dumping in valley and river areas.
The county also plans to focus on waste disposal, food sanitation and facility safety inspections, price stabilization measures such as eradicating overcharging, maintenance of illegal traffic facilities and traffic measures, as well as the management of street vendors and items placed on roadsides.
Lee Jonghyun, Director of the Administrative Welfare Bureau, stated, "By concentrating on maintaining order in areas that could cause inconvenience to visitors, we expect to enhance Muju's status as a leading K-tourism city." He added, "When it comes to removing illegal facilities such as benches, we will prioritize encouraging voluntary participation from residents to uphold the reputation of the Gucheondong Tourism Special Zone."
Meanwhile, the county is drawing attention for its plans to establish a cooperative system with organizations such as the Gucheondong Tourism Council, the Merchants' Association, and the Food and Accommodation Association, as well as to share relevant information with related agencies including Muju Police Station and the Deogyusan National Park Office, in order to maximize the effectiveness of these efforts.
