At the Supreme Council meeting of the Democratic Party held at the National Assembly in Yeouido on the 23rd, Acting Leader Kim said, "We are deeply concerned that if prices continue to rise, the recovery of people's livelihoods could be hindered." He further noted, "During the rainy season in 2023, inflation jumped from the 2% range to the 3% range, and the increase in food prices was particularly significant."
Acting Leader Kim emphasized, "Recovery from the damage and price stabilization?these two are absolutely essential for the recovery of the people's economy," and added, "Since this is the golden time for price stabilization, the Democratic Party and the government will make every possible effort without any delay."
He also mentioned support for areas declared as special disaster zones. Acting Leader Kim said, "Residents of special disaster zones will receive 24 types of support, including disaster relief funds, deferred payment of national and local taxes, and reductions in public utility fees, as well as an additional 13 types of support such as health insurance, telecommunications, and city gas fee reductions."
He continued, "Considering the extent of the damage, this support is still far from sufficient," and added, "We will continue to seek and prepare additional support measures."
