[Photo] KORAIL Launches Dedicated AI Task Force

Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) announced on July 22 that it has launched the AI Acceleration Task Force, a dedicated organization to lead the digital transformation of railways in line with the government's artificial intelligence (AI) policy. The task force is headed by KORAIL Vice President Jung Jeongrae and is organized into seven working groups, including general management, planning, and safety. The team will review the potential for AI integration across all aspects of management, including train operations, customer service, facility maintenance, and safety management. It will also be responsible for discovering and expanding new business opportunities, responding to government AI initiatives, and building networks with academia and industry. At the inaugural meeting held on the same day, the company announced its company-wide operational direction, selected candidate projects for AI application, and established short-term and mid-to-long-term implementation strategies.
