On July 22, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency's Cyber Investigation Unit announced that it had referred three individuals, including an employee of a foreign airline, to the prosecution without detention on charges including violations of the Information and Communications Network Act.

According to the police, these individuals are accused of illegally obtaining flight boarding information of famous celebrities and selling it through social media direct messages (DMs) and other channels.

HYBE, the agency of BTS, has been identifying social media accounts trading celebrity flight ticket information online since 2023, submitting related evidence to the police and filing complaints.
