The Korea Arts & Culture Education Service has announced the second lineup for the integrated performing arts festival brand, "Arko Sum Festa (ARKO SUM FESTA)."
This lineup includes: ▲"Performing Arts Festival for Youth" ▲"Neulpureun Theater Festival" ▲"Korea Youth Theater Festival Miryang" ▲"Pumasi Performing Arts Festival" ▲"Invitational Performance of Overseas Dance Stars Who Illuminate Korea."
The "Performing Arts Festival for Youth," to be held at the Arko Kkumbat Theater from July 29 to August 5, is organized as a leading domestic youth performing arts festival. It offers a rich artistic experience through a diverse program, including six youth plays that engage with young audiences and staged readings in which youth participate as the main actors. In particular, this year marks the festival's 10th anniversary, and special performances and a symposium are also scheduled to take place.
The "Neulpureun Theater Festival," taking place at the Seoul Theater Creation Center and other venues from July 30 to August 17, is designed as a stage to restore and perform representative works of veteran theater artists. Senior actors such as Park Jungja, Choi Jongwon, Lee Jongguk, and Ki Gukseo will appear in person. This is a meaningful festival that conveys the artistic attitude and vision of the first generation of Korean theater.
The "Korea Youth Theater Festival Miryang" will be held at the Miryang Arirang Art Center and other venues from August 1 to August 12. A total of 21 youth theater clubs, selected through regional preliminaries in 16 cities and provinces nationwide, will participate. The festival also features practical arts education programs, such as talk concerts and joint artistic experiences. It is establishing itself as a gateway for young theater artists and as a cultural platform connecting regions and generations.
The "Pumasi Performing Arts Festival," to be held at the Dongtan Complex Cultural Center and Mindulle Theater Village from July 30 to August 3, is a family festival centered on children. It will present a variety of performances across genres, including theater, dance, music, and street performances. The festival will feature international invitees, such as Belgium’s Full Theatre’s "Like Rain," as well as outstanding domestic works, including Park Jungja’s "Taste of Words" and "Koba the Elephant Who Lost His Nose," which won the Grand Prize at the 33rd Seoul Children’s Theater Awards.
The "Invitational Performance of Overseas Dance Stars Who Illuminate Korea" will be held at the Geoje Arts Center on July 30, and at the Seoul Naru Arts Center from August 2 to August 3. Korean dancers active in world-renowned dance companies will participate in gala performances, masterclasses, youth workshops, and dance industry forums, raising the profile of Korean dance on the international stage and providing an opportunity for artistic exchange.
Arko Sum Festa is an integrated brand that connects 17 performing arts festivals nationwide, all selected for Arko’s performing arts festival support program. By linking festivals that were previously operated independently into a single platform, the brand promotes joint publicity and collaboration, expands audience engagement, and builds a foundation for communication across genres and cooperation between regions.
