Yoon Ki-cheon, former head of Bundang District in Seongnam City, has reportedly been appointed as the new chief of the Presidential Office's Second Secretariat, which will be responsible for affairs related to First Lady Kim Hye-kyung, the wife of President Lee Jae-myung.
On July 21, an official from the Presidential Office stated, "Chief Yoon started coming to work today and is expected to begin his duties as soon as the relevant procedures are completed." Yoon previously served as chief secretary to Mayor Lee in 2011 when Lee was the mayor of Seongnam City.
Yoon has held various positions, including head of Sujeong District and Bundang District in Seongnam City, as well as CEO of Seongnam FC. Until recently, he worked as an auditor at the Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation.
The Second Secretariat is an organization that assists the First Lady by managing her schedule, events, and messages. The Yoon Suk-yeol administration had abolished the Second Secretariat as part of efforts to streamline the structure of the Presidential Office. However, following controversies surrounding First Lady Kim Keon-hee, calls for its reinstatement emerged, particularly within political circles. In November of last year, former President Yoon reestablished the Second Secretariat.
