Promoting the Charm of Pohang
as a Marine Tourism City This Summer
Pohang City actively promoted its diverse summer tourism content unique to Pohang to visitors from the Seoul metropolitan area by participating in the 10th Korea International Tourism Expo, which was held over four days from July 18 to July 21 at KINTEX in Ilsan, Gyeonggi Province.
At this expo, Pohang City highlighted its major tourist attractions such as Space Walk and Igari Anchor Observatory, as well as popular summer destinations like Yeongildae Beach and Songdo Beach. The city also focused on introducing local culinary specialties, including Pohang Mulhoe and Deungpureun Makhoe, which drew significant interest from attendees.
In particular, Pohang City received an enthusiastic response by presenting its unique summer tourism offerings, such as various marine leisure activities including cruises, boating, and surfing, set against the backdrop of the romantic Yeongildae Beach and the cityscape illuminated by the steel industry at night.
The Korea International Tourism Expo, hosted by the Korea International Tourism Expo Organizing Committee and the Korea Local Newspaper Association and organized by the Korea Exhibition Industry Institute, is one of the largest tourism expos in the country. This year, more than 300 companies and organizations participated, and over 20,000 visitors attended the event.
An official from Pohang City stated, "Participating in this expo provided an opportunity to widely promote the appeal of Pohang’s summer tourism to citizens in the metropolitan area," and added, "We will continue to build a distinctive tourism city brand based on Pohang’s competitive tourism resources."
