On July 20, Jeonnam Province announced that, following the deliberation of the first Cadastral Resurvey Committee, it has resolved to newly designate or change the designation of 20 cities and counties, 80 project districts, and 33,256 parcels of land (19,587,678.1 square meters) as cadastral resurvey project districts.

Of the project districts approved through the committee's deliberation, 78 new project districts are located in 18 cities and counties, including Mokpo, while 2 districts in Damyang and Muan have been newly designated or had their designations changed.

Out of the total 22 cities and counties in Jeonnam, 20 have been included in this round of project district designations, meaning that the cadastral resurvey project will now be actively promoted in most areas of the province.

The districts reviewed and approved this time are areas where the boundaries on the existing cadastral maps do not match the actual land boundaries, causing significant inconvenience to local residents in their daily lives.

In particular, priority has been given to areas where outdated cadastral boundaries differ from the actual land use, resulting in ongoing disputes and complaints during land transactions, building permits, and inheritance processes.

Residents in areas with boundary disputes expect that the cadastral resurvey project will accurately reflect the actual boundaries and utilize the latest surveying technology to create new cadastral maps, thereby resolving the root causes of previous boundary conflicts.

The cadastral resurvey project, which increases property value, redraws cadastral maps to match actual boundaries and adjusts the boundaries of landlocked parcels (land not connected to roads) or buildings encroaching on neighboring land, thereby enhancing the property value for landowners.

Economic burdens are also alleviated, as the surveying and registration costs previously borne by individual landowners are now covered free of charge by the cities and counties, greatly reducing financial burdens for residents and receiving a positive response.

Jeonnam Province plans to hold information sessions for residents in the newly designated project districts and provide guidance on the project schedule. In addition, the province will convene additional Cadastral Resurvey Committee meetings in the second half of the year to designate further project districts and continue to address residents' inconveniences.

In particular, during the implementation of the project, the province will make every effort to fully incorporate residents' opinions and ensure transparent procedures so that residents can receive tangible benefits.

Kim Seungchae, Director of the Land Management Division of Jeonnam Province, stated, "The cadastral resurvey project is an important initiative to redraw cadastral maps and correct erroneous land boundaries. We will proceed with the project carefully to ensure that residents receive substantial benefits."
