Planned to Meet Summer Tourism Demand in Busan
Subway Wrapped Trains and Station Photo Zones
Lotte Department Store Busan Main Branch is launching a large-scale popup event, 'Pokemon Capsule Station in Busan,' to mark the summer peak season. This event will run for three weeks, from July 25 to August 17.
This event is a collaboration between the department store, Busan Transportation Corporation, and Pokemon Korea, and will be organized as a themed event spanning the entire city of Busan. Interactive content featuring Pokemon characters will be installed on Busan Metro trains and at major stations, attracting attention from visitors.
Starting July 18, various Pokemon will appear inside trains running on subway lines 1 and 2, under the concept of 'Ditto on a Summer Vacation.' At six stations?Busan Station, Gupo Station, Sports Complex Station, Gwangan Station, Jeonpo Station, and Beomnaegol Station?photo zones, media walls, and stamp booths will be set up.
The 'Stamp Rally' is expected to draw interest from family tourists and MZ generation Pokemon fans. Participants who collect at least three stamps from designated stations will receive a 'Pokemon sun cap,' and those who collect all six stamps will receive a 'clear file' and a 'QR ticket holder.' Prizes will be distributed at the event hall on the first basement floor of the department store.
The 'QR ticket' will be available in six Pokemon designs, with 600,000 tickets sold on a first-come, first-served basis starting July 18. The sound of the ticket gates for transportation cards will also be changed to Pikachu's voice, adding to the interactive experience.
Inside the department store, a multi-purpose space will be created, combining a goods shop, capsule toys, and a Pokemon card shop. During the event, more than 80% of the products will be new releases, and major items such as the 'Transforming Ditto Stationmaster Pikachu Cushion' and the 'Pokemon Sleep Figure Series' will be released in three separate phases.
Lotte Department Store Busan Main Branch has also included collaborations with local institutions and businesses in this event. Through partnerships with Busan Transportation Corporation, which is celebrating its 40th anniversary, and Seomyeon Underground Shopping Center's 'Jungang Mall,' the company aims to boost local tourism and revitalize the economy.
Kim Sangwoo, the head of Lotte Department Store Busan Main Branch, stated, "We planned content linking the metro and the department store, reflecting Busan's characteristic as a summer tourist hotspot," and emphasized, "We will invigorate the local commercial district by providing Pokemon content that can only be enjoyed in Busan."
