New Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Koo Yooncheol presided over an executive meeting and inspected the damage from heavy rainfall as his first official duty after taking office.

The Ministry of Economy and Finance announced that on July 19 at around 5:00 p.m., Deputy Prime Minister Koo urgently convened a meeting of first-level executives to review the damage caused by the heavy rains and to examine the fiscal support system.

The ministry reported that Deputy Prime Minister Koo instructed thorough preparations to ensure that disaster recovery and support for flood victims are carried out as quickly as possible in the field, through close cooperation with relevant ministries.

He also ordered that disaster prevention projects be expanded as much as possible when formulating next year's budget proposal.

In addition, he directed officials to make every effort in the ongoing U.S. tariff negotiations, in setting the direction of economic policy reflecting the new administration's governance principles, and in preparing tax reform and the budget proposal.

On July 20, starting at 9:30 a.m., an inauguration ceremony and a meeting with staff are scheduled to be held in the main auditorium of Building 6 at the Sejong Government Complex, with all Ministry of Economy and Finance employees in attendance.
