"Designated islands" are areas managed by the Ministry of Environment under the "Special Act on Conservation of Ecosystems in Island Regions such as Dokdo," which designates uninhabited islands with high ecological, geological, and topographical conservation value. In these areas, activities such as cooking food, camping, and collecting wild plants are legally restricted.

The county conducts annual inspections of the designated islands to check for ecosystem damage and the possibility of environmental pollution, and also inspects the maintenance status of key facilities such as information boards and warning signs. Based on the inspection results, the county plans to establish conservation measures and strengthen on-site guidance activities to prevent illegal acts.

Wi Namhwan, head of the Environmental Water Quality Management Division, said, "Concerns about environmental damage caused by illegal activities on the designated islands remain high," adding, "Continuous guidance and active cooperation from residents and tourists are necessary."
