Enhancing Public Accessibility with 'B-INFO' Visual Content
Proposing AI Process Optimization and Region-Specific Solutions
Busan Institute of Science and Technology for Higher Education Promotion (BISTEP, President Kim Youngbu) has fully revamped its previously suspended information analysis reports and resumed publication after two years.
BISTEP released its first issue titled "Trends and Strategies for Utilizing Artificial Intelligence Technology for Manufacturing Innovation."
This report goes beyond simply listing information; it specifically distinguishes the roles of businesses, universities, and local governments, and presents step-by-step implementation strategies. The goal is to provide practical support for policy planning and on-site application. In particular, to enhance timeliness and effectiveness, the report also includes a visual content card news format called "B-INFO," making the content easily understandable and accessible not only to researchers and university students but also to the general public.
According to the report, the global AI market is growing at an average annual rate of 46.5%. Over the three-year period from 2024 to 2026, the manufacturing sector is expected to be the second most promising area for AI applications, accounting for 15.3%. The government is also working to foster the ecosystem and strengthen cooperation among companies to promote AI-based manufacturing innovation.
In practice, AI plays a key role in optimizing manufacturing processes, including reducing defect rates, predicting equipment failures, shortening process times, and enabling preemptive inspections. Busan ranks fourth nationwide with 167 smart factories, and is considered to have favorable conditions for transitioning to AI-based manufacturing, thanks to its regional industries such as shipbuilding and rolling stock. Accordingly, the report also recommends the development of region-specific AI solutions and the expansion of government support.
BISTEP is increasing public access to information by linking its information analysis reports with the visual content "B-INFO," and plans to continue publishing reports on various science and technology issues in the future.
President Kim Youngbu stated, "We will develop the information analysis report into a strategic report, not just a collection of statistics, to provide insights into domestic and global trends and to guide the direction of regional research and industry. We will also strengthen visual content and data-based analysis systems that are easily accessible to citizens, contributing to the advancement of science and technology in Busan."
The information analysis report and B-INFO content are available for free viewing and download from the BISTEP and Busan Science and Technology Information Service websites.
