Law Firm Kwangjang, led by Managing Partner Kim Sanggon, will host a forum featuring renowned international dispute resolution experts.
On July 23, Kwangjang announced that it will hold the International Arbitration and Corporate Crime Forum at the Academia Room on the first floor of the Kwangjang New Building in Jung-gu, Seoul.
All sessions at this forum will be conducted in English. In addition to experts from Kwangjang, distinguished professionals from around the world will participate and share their insights, including Benjamin Hughes, arbitrator at Fountain Court Chambers, and Michael Lee, founder of Michael Lee Chambers. Alongside legal experts in the field of international disputes, numerous legal officers from both domestic and global corporations, as well as government officials, will also attend.
The forum will open with a welcoming address by Park Eunyeong, head of Kwangjang’s International Dispute Group and co-head of the International Arbitration Team, followed by a total of four grand panel discussion sessions.
First, Attorney Park will provide an overview of the development and challenges in Korea’s international dispute sector, under the theme "The Present and Future of International Arbitration in Korea: Assessing Dispute Resolution Mechanisms in 2025 and Outlook for the Next 12 Months."
In the first panel discussion, Attorney Park and Jack Sharp, foreign attorney and co-head of Kwangjang’s International Arbitration Team, will serve as panelists and discuss negotiation strategies in international arbitration practice.
The second panel discussion will focus on construction disputes at the intersection of global and local contexts, addressing issues such as damages and supply chain challenges. The third panel will explore contract design and dispute prevention strategies for in-house counsel, centering on case studies of disputes among shareholders, directors, and stakeholders in Korean and foreign companies.
The fourth panel discussion will provide a broad overview of technology-related issues that have rapidly emerged in recent years, such as digital asset tracing, AI-related risks, and global internal investigations.
Kwangjang’s International Dispute Group, which organized the forum, stated, "This forum will go beyond simply introducing arbitration trends, offering an opportunity to examine the multifaceted elements of modern dispute resolution, such as negotiation skills, responses to shareholder disputes, digital risks, and mediation procedures. It will be an essential event for those seeking to proactively respond to changes in international arbitration and dispute resolution."
