Dongyeon Kim, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, once again emphasized the 'principle of proactive and excessive response' regarding disaster management on the 18th.
Governor Kim made this statement during the "Gyeonggi Province-City/County Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters Meeting for Heavy Rain Response," which was attended virtually by mayors and county heads. He noted, "The risk of unpredictable and complex disasters is increasing due to climate change."
He added, "Yesterday, there was a tragic loss of life due to the retaining wall collapse in Osan, and today, there was a fire accident in Gwangmyeong that also resulted in casualties." He urged, "Please make every effort in your response so that no more residents of the province lose their lives or property due to disasters."
