Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power's Wolseong Nuclear Power Headquarters (Director: Jung Wonho) announced that Wolseong Unit 4 (a 700,000 kW-class pressurized heavy water reactor) ceased power generation at 9:00 a.m. on July 18 and began its 21st scheduled preventive maintenance, which will last for approximately 73 days.
Wolseong Unit 4 achieved four consecutive cycles of trouble-free safe operation (OCTF, One Cycle Trouble Free) from October 8, 2020, to July 18, 2025 (about 1,494 days), and set a new domestic record by achieving a total of 16 trouble-free safe operation cycles since the start of commercial operation.
During this scheduled preventive maintenance period, Wolseong Unit 4 will undergo a regular inspection in accordance with the Nuclear Safety Act, improvements to the 345kV switchyard gas-insulated switchgear facilities, enhancements to the Class A protection relay trip circuit, and a disassembly and inspection of the low-pressure turbine. Power generation is scheduled to resume around September 28, 2025.
