Entegris Opens Advanced Semiconductor Materials R&D Center in Ansan on July 17

On July 17, global semiconductor materials leader Entegris, based in the United States, established the Korea Technology Center (KTC), an advanced semiconductor materials research and development center, at the Hanyang University ERICA Campus in Ansan, Gyeonggi Province.

The establishment of this center is a follow-up measure that took place after a meeting in April 2023 between Kim Dongyeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, and Jim O'Neill, Executive Vice Chairman of Entegris.

Through the KTC, Entegris plans to integrate and strengthen its research and development (R&D) functions in Korea, while focusing on providing customized technical support for customers and developing future semiconductor technologies.

The KTC will conduct research and development as well as application technology analysis for advanced materials related to core semiconductor processes, including advanced deposition materials, wet chemical processes, chemical mechanical planarization (CMP) slurry, and liquid filtration and purification.

Based on Entegris's innovative technologies and global partnerships in the semiconductor materials sector, the center is expected to lead industry-tailored technological innovation and contribute to strengthening the foundation of the domestic semiconductor industry.

Ko Youngin, Vice Governor for Economy of Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Gyeonggi Province is advancing its industrial infrastructure by building the world's largest semiconductor cluster and establishing a free economic zone," adding, "We hope that the KTC will grow into a leading R&D hub in the southwestern region of Gyeonggi and create synergy effects in the semiconductor industry."

Founded in 1966 in Massachusetts, USA, Entegris is a comprehensive semiconductor solutions company with approximately 8,000 employees worldwide, developing and supplying core materials and precision components. In Korea, the company operates production facilities in Suwon (headquarters), Hwaseong, Pyeongtaek, and Wonju, with about 500 employees in the country.
