This inspection was carried out as a proactive measure to ensure safety at embankment slopes and underground excavation areas, which are at high risk of disasters such as ground weakening due to heavy rainfall during the summer.
The inspection team was composed of seven external experts in soil and road engineering, along with construction supervisors. The team focused on the bridge construction site (L=230m, eight lanes in both directions) and pipeline installation areas, intensively inspecting overall construction and safety management, including: ▲ safety management during steel bridge painting and material lifting ▲ ground conditions in preparation for heavy rainfall ▲ management of cut and fill slopes and drainage systems.
As a result of the inspection, minor issues were addressed immediately on site, while matters requiring improvement or reinforcement will be supplemented after a follow-up review by experts.
Shin Changho, President of Busan Urban Corporation, stated, "We will continue to improve construction quality and safety management systems through regular joint inspections with private experts," and added, "We will do our utmost to prevent disasters by implementing effective, field-oriented safety measures."
