This field activity marks the third international program following those in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, in 2023 and 2024. This year, the program has expanded its partner country to Mongolia.
Adult learners from the Department of Welfare Management and the Department of Beauty Industry participated in the program. They are carrying out the program by making practical contributions to the local community based on the expertise acquired in their respective majors.
The K-Care Team from the Department of Welfare Management (Kyungyeon Lee and three others, supervised by Professor Jieun Lee) provided welfare service activities at a center for people with disabilities in Darkhan. The K-Beauty Team from the Department of Beauty Industry (Eunhye Lee, Eunjung Park, supervised by Professor Seula Lee) offered makeup demonstrations and hands-on education to local high school students. The K-Culture Team (Yoonju Bae and three others, supervised by Professor Dongsook Tae) raised interest in K-Beauty through nail art services.
On July 16, an official MOU signing ceremony was held with the Darkhan Department of Education, promising ongoing exchange and cooperation not only in service learning but also across the broader fields of education and culture.
Boyangteokteokh, Director of the Department of Education, stated, "We will continue to provide unwavering support for active exchanges between students of both countries." Dean Dongsook Tae of Dongmyung University emphasized, "Based on this activity, we will develop a sustainable model for international exchange."
This Global Service Learning initiative is significant in that it goes beyond simple short-term overseas volunteering, enabling adult lifelong learners to practically demonstrate their professional skills and international communication abilities on site. Dongmyung University plans to further expand its role as a global lifelong learning hub connecting the local community and the world.
