'Sibmandokja Podcast Bookkbookk' Clubs Selected and Activities Resumed
The Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education announced on July 16 that it has officially resumed its flagship program for promoting reading and humanities education, the 'Sibmandokja Podcast Bookkbookk' activities, and has selected 20 club teams to participate this year.
The 'Sibmandokja Podcast Bookkbookk' is Jeonnam Provincial Office of Education's signature reading and humanities podcast project, launched in 2023, which aims to turn students' post-reading activities into engaging content and foster a culture of communal reading among the Jeonnam educational community.

Until now, participating students have read books and discussed them, then produced podcast broadcasts based on their discussions and submitted them to the provincial office of education. These broadcasts have been aired once a week via the podcast platform 'Podbbang.' This year, in order to diversify broadcast content and encourage more production, a total of 20 clubs were selected through a public call in May. Starting in October, these teams will present one broadcast per day on Podbbang.
Among the selected teams, several stand out for their unique concepts reflecting the character of each school. The 'ON AIR' team from Hampyeong Hakdari High School highlighted historical pain, including the 5·18 Democratization Movement, from a youth perspective through Han Kang's novel "The Boy Is Coming." The 'Tiger Reading Club' from Muan Haengbok Elementary School increased accessibility to reading by having students introduce books they read themselves in a World Cup-style tournament. Mokpo Seohae Elementary School plans to attract attention by having students and parents together reinterpret the picture book "The Most Delicious Jajangmyeon in the World" as a media fairy tale role-play.
In addition, the provincial office of education held the '2025 Bookkbookk Club Teacher Workshop' at the Jeonnam Women's and Family Foundation seminar room on the same day, and began providing production support to strengthen teachers' competencies. The workshop included a session to share the direction and philosophy of the 'Bookkbookk' project, as well as special lectures on ▲ know-how for operating podcast clubs and ▲ practical skills for broadcast production.
In particular, Kim Sunghwi, a teacher at Muan Haengbok Elementary School who served as a broadcast producer last year, and Kim Jooseon, who worked as a club writer, participated as instructors, sharing real-world examples and expertise, which received an enthusiastic response from attending teachers.
Kim Younggil, Director of Future Education, said, "Bookkbookk is the result of the reading and humanities education promoted by the provincial office of education," and added, "We ask for a lot of interest and support for the students' broadcasting activities, which will begin with the new semester."
